Shwe Doe Nwe Monastery School is located on a mountain ridge in Singu Township. The students’ parents mostly work as charcoal burners and gold miners, coming from families involved in these tough labor industries.
The school is an upper primary level institution. Although it aimed to offer classes up to Grade 9 and Grade 10, it had to stop due to a shortage of available teachers. Currently, there are only three temporary classrooms, while the remaining ones are makeshift huts.
Because of the school’s extremely remote location, donors rarely reach it. Therefore, a clean and proper one-story school building with 5 classrooms was donated and constructed to support the children’s education.
