Shwe Hlay Monastery School was established in 2011 and is accessible only by waterway. Due to the lack of proper transportation infrastructure, it is difficult for students to travel to other government or monastic schools for their education. As such, the school also serves as a provider of non-formal education. Currently, it accommodates 185 students, who have been learning in temporary shelters due to the absence of proper school facilities.
To support the educational needs of the students, a one-storey school building with 4 classrooms was donated, along with 6 computers to establish a basic computer lab.
